Any of our listed tackle shops would be glad to steer you in the direction of a boat that’s still sailing. There are still a few of the big boats running Tautog trips when the weather allows. Most Striper trips will start back up around April or sooner. Some anglers are still targeting Stripers (Bass, Striped), Tautog, Cod, Atlantic and other fish that are around over the winter. INSHORE – During the Winter season the migratory fish have left the area and the variety of fish available in State waters are slim. They are taking Bloodworms and soft plastics. Most of the Stripers are on the side banks and rivers towards Beesley’s Point. Perch (Silver Perch) are in there taking Bloodworms or Grass Shrimp. The numbers are improving as they move out of the rivers towards the bridges and bays. INSHORE – We are into March now and Stripers (Bass, Striped) have already fired up in the back bay as well as up in the river (Tuckahoe, Great Egg and Middle River). Smaller sizes are running the beach and the inlet however the numbers haven’t been spectacular. Conditions are finally shaping up in the river so fish should really be getting ready to bite. There are a few around 28-30 inches so there is a chance you can take home some dinner. The Striper (Bass, Striped) bite has been steady overall with plenty of shorts taking Bloodworms.
